Many layers of methane gas bubbles trapped in the frozen waters of Abraham Lake in the Canadian Rockies.

Methane gas bubble rise from the bottom of the lake and are trapped underneath the ice. The stacks of bubbles form over time and the ice gets thicker and gas bubbles are trapped under each layer of ice.
